Exporting Your Data

One of the most important features to look for in any SaaS (Software As A Service) product is the ability to export your data. Storing your law office data in the cloud is the way of the future, but law offices need to be able to move their data from an application should they decide to stop using the SaaS product.

Not being able to remove data from an application is sometimes called “vendor lock-in”. Holding data hostage without the option to export makes customers reluctant to leave a cloud app for fear of losing data and is a tactic used by some vendors to keep customers.

We don’t work like that. In fact, GoMatters is so confident you will love our service, we’ve made it as painless as possible to leave at any time and take your data with you.

GoMatters allows users to export data any time. To export data from GoMatters, click the “Export” link in the left navigation sidebar to open the “Export” tab. From the “Export” tab, click any of the export buttons to export your data to your local hard drive in any of the available formats. That’s it, one click and your data is exported.

All data is available in XML (.xml) format. Some data is available in data formats convenient for that type of data, i.e. your contacts can be exported in vCard (.vcf) format. XML is a file format used in interchanging data over the Internet and your GoMatters data as an XML file can be imported and used by other applications easily.
